DEP and Mike Patton

My buddy D made a post devoted to the amazing album Angel Dust and it made me think of this great song by Dillinger Escape Plan with Mr. Mike Patton. Hate on DEP all you want they had some really good stuff early on. Now I can't vouch for it as strongly but this EP with Patton was stellar. On this EP this song was the one that I enjoyed the most. Mike has to be one of the most eclectic and original vocalist in "extreme" music. Dude is 5 kinds of crazy and isn't afraid to tackle any music project no matter how off kilter, and man, some of it is out there and to be honest some of it blows, but the vast majority is prime.

Joey Cape Interview

Backing up Jesse, while an absolutely amazing musician, Joey probably isn't the most "fan friendly." Hence the facial hair.

Burst

And now for more of the metal, I don't even recall how I came across this band but man I've been a fan since I did. Burst were a metal band from Sweden whom, for whatever reason, never really caught on. As far as progressive metal I always thought that they are one of the better ones that I have heard. Great sludgy stuff a la Isis or Buried Inside.

BA

Because QAE has a dubious reputation I feel the need to back his claims on how amazing Mr. Cape is. By the way, I ran into Joey in Santa Barbara once and he really is short! I was pretty well star struck and was just like "You're Joey Cape and I have idolized your band for over a decade (sadly this was about 7 or 8 years ago, I'm getting old)" and he was like "Oh." It was classic and of course I felt like an idiot later. Anyway, here's Joey's side band Bad Astronaut. One awesome band covering another awesome band. May have probably already heard this one. BA had a great run of amazing album's until sadly drummer Derrick Plourde committed suicide. Here's a couple great songs.

And here's another band, I don't know how many albums other than this one they put out, but to tie it in this one was produced by Joey Cape. I was quite a fan of this lesser known album.

Anything Joey touches turns to gold I swore, but then I bought a vinyl copy of The Playing Favorites...I was severely disappointed.

Come all ye faithful....

Lagwagon is an all time favorite. This video i found from a show in Moscow. I've been to punk shows in Moscow, and i promise you no one has any idea what they are saying. Pretty funny stuff.

Joey Cape's solo stuff is amazing also if you ever want to slow things down a bit...that one day a year.

Oi to the world

Nothing gets me in the holiday spirit like the Vandals. Buy a Vandals record. Support them in their rediculous lawsuit with "Variety" and check out the story below.

Talk about David against Goliath!!!
